Natural Slate Processing for Billiard Tables

Natural slate is used for billiard and snooker table beds because it can be machined into a large, flat playing surface and then holds that surface for years under load. Whether a particular set performs as expected is decided less by the raw material than by processing: thickness consistency, surface preparation, and how truly the pieces sit to one another once assembled.

Machining follows the confirmed drawing. Section joints are ground flat, pocket cut-outs are CNC-machined to the specified radius, and drilling, edge work and the final surface finish are agreed before production begins. Export Packaging and Shipping

Billiard slate is heavy and rigid; handled badly in transit it cracks rather than bends. For the 10ft five-piece set, the default packing is a fumigated wooden export crate, each piece separated and edge-protected within the crate. A-frame or alternative arrangements can be discussed where the order configuration suits them — larger slates, unusual routing — and the final method, dunnage and bracing are confirmed with the order rather than assumed.

Shipments are normally routed from the Jiujiang river port, about 40 minutes from the works, or to the destination port agreed with the order. For an accurate shipping proposal, provide the destination port or delivery location, the order quantity and the preferred shipping method.
