Carom Table Slate
A carom table slate is a natural stone playing surface that provides the foundation for a carom billiard table. Unlike pool or snooker, carom billiards does not use pockets, making the accuracy of ball movement and cushion rebound even more critical. A perfectly level and polished slate ensures that the ball moves smoothly and predictably, without any interference from irregularities in the playing surface.
Carom tables are generally larger and heavier than pool tables, with standard dimensions of 10 feet x 5 feet (3.1m x 1.55m). This requires thicker and more stable slate slabs, usually in three-piece or five-piece configurations, to provide the best balance between durability, flatness, and easy installation.
